A Porto Wine Cat Feed :)

Didn’t even have time to check my camera settings or consciously frame the image. Still partially blinded, I raised my camera up quickly, turned it vertically to my right side and blindly snapped one image. Then, just like that, the magnificent light was gone and the old woman went back inside her home. The cats scattered away and the seagull flew off.

Frantically checked to see if I got the lucky shot. I had. This was the precise moment the pure travel magic truly kicked in.

Gracias Amigo!

I’d been in Bolivia for a couple of weeks and it was every bit as grand as I’d dreamed. Admittedly, I was very nervous about how I’d handle the high altitude there. Much of what I read about what happens to some people at high altitude was sketchy and inconsistent. Some of it was downright terrifying. I mean, your brain swelling inside your skull and shutting down vital organs and such.

At the same time I knew that Bolivia was a popular country to visit and that if the altitude was really all that dangerous I likely would’ve heard more about it.

"An incredible true story. It was to be a three-country, backpacking adventure of making a giant circle from Portugal, Spain... up into the South of France, back through Spain, and back over to Lisbon. The author set out to make the best of a shoestring budget, get a few nice photos and hopefully a decent story to tell.

What ensued was a nearly unbelievable journey immersed in the rich culture of the region, emotive prose that makes you feel like you're traveling along too, and images that take the reader into mysterious dark corners, ethereal rendezvous, Scottish wizards, an unwitting encounter with dark revolutionaries, and so much more.

Punch your ticket and come along for a once in a lifetime, spectacular adventure!"

A quick fun read at 105 pages.

My First Limited Editions & Premium Prints Store Now Open!

Over the last several years, most of my work has been available via print-on-demand, and on various products. Many of them still are, but I'm reserving some images as Limited Editions and Premium Open Edition. All signed. All inspected by me personally before they go out.

They're only available in the size I've determined for each image, and only on the media I feel best represents my work. For these first offerings, I've chosen a heavy, 330gsm archival water color paper made from 100% cotton. I may offer some others printed on metal, other fine art papers, and possibly acrylic.

I've started these out with a discount on the Premium Open Edition prints, but I've also generated a 20% discount code good for any order over $200.
The code is good until 06/23/15  07:01pm

Enter this code on checkout 8Z4XWU6 for a 20% discount

I'm keeping the collection small, easy to browse, the ability to see the images large without any water-marking, and committed to only the best quality.

Visit the General Store HERE

I've also got an audio book true story that I recorded and edited while in the desert of San Luis, Mexico. Read the product description for more details, but I promise you, it's an intense story. :)

The Silver Thread Audiobook Available Now!

The Silver Thread

25 years ago, Skip Hunt died in an mud Indian hut in the Oaxaca, Mexico mountains. This is his story.

The Silver Thread begins with a train heading South through Copper Canyon, traveling free with no destination as you're transported deep within Mexican interior and high up into the mountains of Oaxaca.

After a few strange twists of fate, the author finds himself collapsing in a thatch hut while participating in an ancient Mazatecan indian mushroom ceremony. As the indigenous hosts try to get his heart beating again, experience a most incredible and transcendent journey beyond. (Based on a true story)

3 Awesome/Fresh 2013 Calendar Offerings from the Kaleidoscope

Rockin' Fresh Calendar Booty Yo-Ho-Ho!

Luckily, I happened to be browsing MagCloud's blog to see if they had any new products for this season, and noticed they're now offering printed calendars! I don't use printed calendar's myself, but I get asked about them every year.

What I love about these is that they're not your usual stapled variety (though they offer those too) but the larger 12x12 with Wire-O binding. And my experience with MagCloud has consistently rendered beautiful printing results in my photo books.

So, I'm proud to offer these first 3 calendar collections in time for the end of year and holiday season! Please have a look and pick up some sweet holiday/end-o-year Skip Hunt goodies!

Happy Holidays All!

Announcing the MOST comprehensive Skip Hunt collection to date!

This was really something I put together for myself out of images I've published at MagCloud as photo books. I wanted a collection that I could easily take around with me with 10 images from each of the photo books I've published to show galleries potential collections. 120 images in all!

Now that it's complete, I decided to make it publicly available for a holiday special price which will go up considerably after the holidays.

If you're a fan of my work, this is the most comprehensive collection I've ever offered. My guess is that it would make someone a delightful holiday gift. ;)

You can preview the entire publication at the link below, and prints are available via HERE and HERE

Back in one piece from Chupacabra Tour 2012

And, what a long strange trip it was!

It was a rough trip, but overall... extremely productive. The whole focus on the Chupacabra story as really a last minute idea to work on, but became the main driving force of the entire trip. Got some sweet images and have almost completed the screenplay version!

The trip was mostly chronicled on Storify HERE for more details.

Also got some video clips that I will use in the iBook version and possibly a pre-production movie trailer to hopefully raise funds. Check it out!

A few snaps from the Chupacabra Tour

I've got the true account recording I made in audiobook format for sale and download here:

Chupacabra Audiobook

And, I've also got the first 3 chapters available via iTunes podcast for free HERE

Back to finishing the screenplay... more coming!

Hmmm... Let's call it the "Chupacabra Tour"!

In just 4 days I'm flying to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as an entry point... will hang out for a few days before climbing aboard a bus for who knows where?!

I really didn't have a reason or plan at all for this trip (and don't generally) but I'd just returned from traveling in Colombia where I made some fairly satisfying black and white images and captured some the most delicious Colombian color and landscapes I've seen in my travels to date. So why be in such a hurry to ramble yet again so soon? Quien sabe.

After finally recording some audio tracks into chapters so that I could at least get through the story with minimal editing and offer it as an audio book, the idea of maybe trying to push this true story forward to shoot as a movie started to materialize. I figure that I'm going to be in the same general locations that the story took place, and since I've never seriously considered making a movie out of it... well, it seemed high time that I revisit the story over a decade later to see if maybe it has legs.

A True Story | Audio Book + 01:45:32

A True Story | Audio Book + 01:45:32

Am I just procrastinating? Perhaps. I've been to these places many times before and have already made many Mexico images on previous trips. I'm hoping to accomplish a tighter focus and being able to "see" this as a movie in my mind's eye... with making new images specifically related to my CHUPACABRA | A True Story I'm hoping to get a similar level of obsession that almost cost me my life over 13 years ago. The audio book project was initially intended to save the story for myself. Then, it's purpose became to see if other's were intrigued enough to buy the audio book. Now, it's evolved into a purpose for this trip. Where it will go from there I can't say, but with some encouragement from friends, and that strange tingle you can get sometimes that implies "now is the time"... I'll soon see if CHUPACABRA | A True Story will live beyond a recorded story.

I'm going to listen to the story while traveling and grab extra images that could serve as companion pieces specifically for this story, and possibly useful cinematic location shots. If this story intrigues you at least the $3 worth :) And you want to listen to what will be guiding me on my next journey, I've made it available for purchase & download HERE

(This is the first short 8 minute "set-up" chapter for you to sample first)

There's won't be a project site with this so that I can focus solely on getting intimate with my own story once again. I'll be posting stuff along the way when possible as thoughts, images and sounds relate to this story. Should be an interesting trip if the Great Spirit see my intentions as earnest and worthy. Wish me suerte (luck)!
